Clergy and Staff

Senior (Interim) Pastor: Cynthia Williams

It is important to me that the local church is safe, brave space for people to do inner work in community, so that we might be strengthened and equipped to be a reflection of Christ in the world. As a pastoral leader, I seek to be a non-anxious presence, bridge and connector who helps people to know who they “be” so that they can with courage know what they are called to “do” in the world.

Senior (Interim) Pastor: Gloria Roach-Thomas – gloriart_sunshine@yahoo.com

Having the opportunity to work effectively with people in ministry from varied backgrounds gives me energy and passion-because I believe we are all made In God’s image, and we all have value and worth. In addition, working with laity around their hopes, dreams and visions for the church and its future, and seeing laity get excited about the mission and the ministries of the church give me energy and passion. I get excited about providing ministry which brings hope and healing to a world that desperately needs the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Senior (Interim) Pastor: Dan Johnson – dcjumc@gmail.com

The Church is the Body of Christ that heals us of that which cripples individually and collectively, nurtures our spiritual and behavioral growth, and fills us with such joy that our faith overflows in reaching new people. The Church is not a fixed location nor a stagnant institution, but a movement that invites belonging, engenders purpose, and engages us in building God’s “kin-dom” on earth.

Dan Johnson will serve BUMC starting June 30, 2024.  This is an interim position focusing on the administrative aspects of the church.

Youth Ministries: Joe Zaweia   jzawiea@bumc.org

Greetings to you from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

My name is Joseph Zawiea, Director of Youth Ministries here at the Brooklyn United Methodist Church.
I am originally from Liberia (West Africa)  and I bow in submission and profound gratitude for the opportunity accorded me to do ministry with the amazing and talented young people of our church and community.

I am humble, approachable, open-minded, submissive, confident, and a young man who loves to talk about Jesus. It is my desire to see every young person walking in accordance with God’s plans and purpose. For the Gospel of Jesus is the Good News and no matter what happens, this Good News must be our main focus.

Our passion here at the Brooklyn UMC is to create a culture of WE and ensure a spirit filled youth fellowship. The goal of Youth Council is to ensure successful implementation of all fellowship’s activities by introducing new benefiting programs that are geared towards giving you not just a ‘good’ but an ‘excellent’ BUMC experience.

Looking forward to working with you.
